A Case of the Mondays…

Monday started off a little glum as my alarm went off and i realized i was not prepared to actually go to work today and the impending doom of my wisdom teeth cutting was most definitely upon me.  Ouch. So obviously i hit the snooze button a few times then proceeded to get ready.  Then something clicked… it’s Monday, and this means a NEW GOSSIP GIRL!  Some of you may not know what a GG fan I am, and that’s okay you will soon.  Not only does it contain beautiful people to live vicariously through, it’s set in the very enchanting NYC.  Now, it is set mostly in the Upper East Side, and i could never afford to live there seeing as how it’s a struggle to live in the upper east side of Austin from time to time, but it’s still lovely.

So now in good spirits, minus the throbbing tooth, i headed out the door and guess what… i was on time, two minutes early even!  With my morning coffee in hand i send out the e-mail blast about all of our lovely CW programing for the week including the very exciting GG that aired tonight, and before you say “obsessed much” it’s actually part of my job… i work for the local NBC and CW affiliates, then txt my roommate to see if massive amounts of pizza and GG were in the run down for tonight.  Sadly, they were not, I got the sobering news that she had to miss it this week and any massive amounts of pizza would be eaten alone.  If the outlook of eating a large pizza by yourself isn’t enough to make you upset i look up at the Today show to see Miley has done it again.

Miley, why Miley!  Judge me if you will but her songs are catchy and Hannah Montana is so awful it’s pretty damn entertaining.  I really did have high hopes for this one.  I won’t be surprised to see this surface later as a publicity stunt to re-invent her image to appeal to an older crowd as her tween fans age with her but i just wish there was some other way.  And before I share my thoughts about the photos can i just say…picture it, Girls in Media the spring of ‘07, i was in my prime and ready to graduate.  The assignment pick a girl in media today and write about her affects and portrayal.  I chose our dear old Miley, and her duality stardom and the affects it could have on tween fans as well as the portrayal of girls in media and the future…. if i could find the paper… which i will i’m pretty sure i wrote about how it could be confusing and problematic for Miley and her fans.  In a way i should have seen this coming…sigh.  Now the photos, the first batch that were spread around the internet… Miley, i get it you want to be as cute and sexy as the Victoria’s Secret model we all saw in the super bowl add but give it up… not like that, spring for some glamour shots. As for the Vanity Fair article… I saw the photos online, a little creepy with your dad, not the All American family we’re used to.  The satin sheet photo wasn’t provocative in my opinion just not the most faltering shot.  Okay that’s enough air time for Miley, Annie Leibovitz and the mediocre photos.  Ouch.

What really turned this douche of a day around was a little discovery our editor lead me to find.  That’s right not only can you play Guitar Hero… called Flash Hero on your computer but my all time favorite video/arcade game House of the Dead But wait…it gets better, The Typing of The Dead  That’s right, “type or die”  I can’t describe how dorky and awesome this is!  I just had a long conversation about typing class games the other day so you can see what the timing of finding this is just so perfect.  I fully plan to investigate both games and let you know what I think.  I know it won’t ever fulfill my dreams of having the actual House of the Dead arcade game of my very own but i don’t know if i could get this it might, just might be cool enough for me.  For now i’ll get it for my computer and let you know how i feel about it.  No sense in getting the cart before the horse.
